Asus’s gaming brand Republic of Gamers (ROG) has announced the US availability of its new ROG Cetra Open Wireless earbuds. Announced earlier this year in January, the open-ear wireless earbuds are designed for users who want immersive audio while still being aware of their surroundings, making them suitable for gaming, music, and outdoor activities.

The Cetra Open Wireless features an open-ear design that allows environmental sounds to pass through, helping users remain aware of nearby traffic, people, or other sounds while listening to music or playing games. Audio is powered by large 14.2mm drivers with a diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating, which the company says helps reduce distortion while delivering clear highs, detailed mids, and deep bass.

Connectivity is one of the highlights of the Cetra Open Wireless. Much like the older Cetra True Wireless SuperNova earbuds, the new model supports dual-mode connectivity, letting users switch between Bluetooth and ROG’s ultra-low-latency 2.4GHz SpeedNova wireless technology.

The latter is designed to provide precise audio-visual sync during gaming sessions. Asus includes a USB-C 2.4GHz wireless dongle in the box, which also supports passthrough charging. This means users can charge their phones while staying connected to the earbuds.

The wireless earbuds also include several built-in audio models that let users customize their listening experience. Phantom Bass boosts perceived low-end response for more impactful sound, while Immersion Mode reduces surrounding noise to help users stay focused on their games.

Designed for comfort and durability

Asus says the Cetra Open Wireless is built with active users in mind. The earbuds feature ergonomic silicone ear hooks designed for long-term comfort, and a detachable reflective neck strap provides extra stability during workouts and outdoor activities. Physical control buttons offer tactile feedback and are designed to avoid accidental inputs that can sometimes happen with touch controls.

The earbuds are rated IPX5 for splash resistance, meaning they can handle sweat and light rain. Asus says the Cetra Open Wireless can deliver up to 16 hours of use in Bluetooth mode on a full charge, with a quick 15-minute top-up providing up to three hours of listening time.

The ROG Cetra Open Wireless earbuds are available now in the US for $229.99, and you can purchase them directly through Asus’ website or retailers like Amazon, Micro Center, and Newegg.
