Xiaomi 16, the purported flagship smartphone from the Chinese technology firm, is expected to launch later this year. A tipster has now revealed information about the display and battery on the purported Xiaomi 16, which appears to corroborate previously leaked details of the handset. The Xiaomi 16 is tipped to debut in September, and it is likely to be one of the first smartphones to debut with Qualcomm’s next generation Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip, as per recent reports.

Xiaomi 16 Display, Battery Specifications (Expected)

The upcoming Xiaomi 16 will be equipped with a “6.3X” display, according to tipster Digital Chat Station (translated from Chinese) on Weibo. This indicates that the smartphone’s display will be between 6.31 inches and 6.9 inches. Another leaker previously claimed that the Xiaomi 16 would sport a 6.32-inch screen.

While the display on the Xiaomi 16 might not be bigger than the current Xiaomi 15 model, the tipster indicates that the company will equip the handset with a much larger battery. The Xiaomi 16 will pack a 7,000mAh battery, according to Digital Chat Station’s post on Weibo.

This is considerably larger than the 5,240mAh battery on the company’s latest flagship. The tipster’s claim echoes another leak from April that suggested the handset would arrive with a 7,000mAh battery. It is currently unclear whether the Xiaomi 16 will feature a thicker body than its predecessor, to accommodate this larger battery.

Expected to arrive in September, the Xiaomi 16 is likely to be one of the first smartphones to be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip. Qualcomm is also expected to unveil the successor to its Snapdragon 8 Elite chip around the same time.

We can expect the Xiaomi 16 to offer some upgrades over the existing Xiaomi 15 flagship, which has a 6.36-inch OLED screen, a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, a 50-megapixel triple camera setup, a 32-megapixel selfie camera, and a 5,240mAh battery. More details on the handset are expected to surface online in the coming weeks or months before its anticipated debut.
