It’s Amazon Prime Day, and several of our top pieces of coffee gear are on sale among the many great Prime Day deals. That includes espresso machine deals, discounted coffee grinders, and even a super-cheap cold-brew maker—there’s a Prime Day coffee deal for everyone.

Coffee Deals

Breville’s Barista Express has been our go-to espresso machine recommendation for newcomers for years. It’s reliable—the unit I bought in 2018 still works perfectly today—easy to master, and feature-rich. Pop your freshly roasted coffee beans into the hopper and fine-tune the grind settings. Pull out the magnetic tamper and press softly onto your portafilter. Pop the portafilter in and push a button—now you’ve made espresso (as long as your gauge says the pressure was in the “espresso range.” Use the steam wand to steam some milk if you want a latte. We’ve seen it dip to this deal price a few times, but it has rarely dipped any lower in the past few years.

Tend to drink a lot of lattes? You might prefer an automatic machine—push a button and it’ll mix the milk into your coffee for a delicious cup with no effort on your part. The Cafe Barista is our top budget recommendation in our Best Latte and Cappuccino Machines guide, and this price makes it a steal. It’s plasticky and lightweight (hence the price), so you’ll want to hold it with one hand as you twist the portafilter into place. It can make good espresso, and then you can push a button to make a latte or cappuccino, provided you’ve filled the integrated milk container. Just make sure to refrigerate the container when you’re done and clean it often.

KitchenAid’s new Semi Automatic Espresso Machine (8/10, WIRED Recommends) has a built-in grinder that is wonderfully quiet in its operation—so much so that it features a certification from Quiet Mark. The next best trick? It’s fairly compact! If counter space is a premium in your kitchen, this espresso machine has a small footprint with wheels on its base so you can roll it out of the way. Genius! There’s also a generous amount of room between the portafilter and the base, so you won’t have a problem fitting taller mugs. The only issue? It might take a few attempts to get the grind dose right, but once you nail it, you’ll be sipping away quite happily.

Let’s state the obvious, no one needs a $185 scale. Even on sale this is a lot of money for device that weighs your beans, water, and whatever else. Still, in our experience, this scale is an absolute joy to use and the brew assist mode is very helpful. The Tally Pro has a solid, heavy feel to it. You turn the knob to cycle through the different units of weight on its little OLED display, and press a smaller button beside it to cycle through the modes.

Brew Assist mode is amazing for pour-over fans. Put the container for your coffee grounds on the scale, tare it, add your grounds to the container, use the knob to set your desired water/coffee ratio, and the scale does the math to tell you how much water you’ll need to achieve that strength. You can watch this tutorial to see how Brew Assist mode works.

The original AeroPress was as close to a perfect coffee making device as you could—a palm-sized syringe that you can take anywhere that makes delicious coffee easily and is also easy to clean. The AeroPress XL is more of the same, literally. It’s the same device, just twice the size of everything—the plunger, chamber, cap, filter, and stirrer, and it also comes with a carafe. Admittedly, we are not exactly sure who the AeroPress XL is for. There are probably easier ways of making twice as much coffee, and pouring a half-liter of boiling water into a chamber balanced on top of a carafe seems like it could end poorly. However, if you’ve been waiting for an update to your original AeroPress forever, and you drink twice as much coffee as you used to, 43 percent off seems like a steal.

If you love making pour-over coffee, you absolutely should invest in a gooseneck kettle. Fellow’s Stagg EKG is the gold standard in the industry. This electric kettle pours wonderfully, and the handle allows for fine control. The lovely knob on the base lets you control temperatures and it will stay at the temp until you turn it off. This is my default kettle for everything—when I’m not using it for pour-overs, I take off the lid and pour water out from the top for the sake of speed.
