One of my favorite smart rings is a must-buy thanks to this Black Friday sale

If you are like me and want the advantages of a smartwatch but dislike notifications on your wrist, a smart ring might be the perfect device for you. However, owning a smart ring can cost a lot, especially when smart rings like the Oura Ring come with a recurring subscription.

The RingConn Smart Ring is different. I love the Gen 1 version for three reasons: long battery life, a comfortable design, and a portable charging case. It was a good deal with a $259 retail price, but it faced tough competition from more established companies.

However, a Black Friday sale brings the price down to just $169 on Amazon and the RingConn website. It’s an incredible savings, and it makes now the perfect time to finally jump on board the smart ring bandwagon.

Why I like the RingConn Gen 1 so much

I’ve tested smart rings from Ultrahuman, Amazfit, RingConn, and more. RingConn is my value pick, while Ultrahuman’s Ring Air offers a better app experience.

That said, RingConn’s Smart Ring offers a better ownership experience thanks to its lightweight form factor with flat sides and portable charging case. Both these hardware benefits have proven to make it a better travel companion.

The RingConn Smart Ring Gen 1 consistently gave me six days of battery life before I opted for the Gen 2, which has up to two weeks of battery life. The Gen 1 weighs less than the competition and is more comfortable to wear. In comparison, the Amazfit Helio Ring feels too thick, and the Ultrahuman Ring Air sits between the two.

RingConn’s portable charger is a better choice than a dock because I can charge the ring when needed without access to a plug. I don’t need to be mindful of a small dock and ring placement to ensure it’s charging — the physical markers on the Smart Ring Gen 1 make docking and charging easy.

Moreover, there’s no extra charge. The app offers all the features for free without asking for subscription charges. You spend the retail price, and the ring is yours with all the functions available.

The only downside is delayed notifications from the app. You need to open the app every morning to sync the data. The syncing speed has improved over time, but there’s still work to be done. The app design is good, and the metrics are easy to understand, but you need to open it to sync daily.

This is the time to finally get a smart ring

The RingConn Smart Ring Gen 1 is available for a $90 discount for $169 at Amazon. But you can get it for $160 by entering the code Z49DEB47 at checkout. If you want to buy from the RingConn website, you can enter DGT10 and get it for $159. It will also give you a free ring protector.

If you want a lighter, more comfortable smart ring that lasts longer and has sleep apnea detection functionality, the RingConn Smart Ring Gen 2 can be bought for a $15 discount with code DGT15 on the company’s website. These offers are valid until December 8, 2024.
