Honor Magic V5 Set to Launch on July 2, Design Officially Teased

Honor Magic V5 will launch next month, the Chinese smartphone brand confirmed through its Weibo handle. The latest foldable smartphone will most likely be limited to China, but could make it to other regions eventually. The company also showcased the slim design of the foldable on Weibo. The Honor Magic V5 will debut as a successor to last year’s Magic V3 and is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. It is rumoured to feature a 6,100mAh battery and an 8-inch inner foldable screen.

Honor Magic V5 will be unveiled in China on July 2 and the event will begin at 7:00pm local time (4:30pm IST). The brand has started accepting pre-reservations for the foldable through its official store in China.

Additionally, Honor CEO James Li teased the Magic V5 during the MWC Shanghai 2025 event, offering a brief look at the foldable ahead of its debut. The camera island appears to protrude quite a bit in the teaser, while the volume rockers and a power button are seen on one edge. It is claimed to debut as the thinnest and lightest smartphone on the market. The phone is said to offer AI-backed features and ‘PC-level productivity’.

Honor is likely to position the Magic V5 as a direct competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, which is tipped to measure just 3.9mm when unfolded and 8.9mm in the folded state. The exact dimensions for the Magic V5 are still unclear, but last year’s Magic V3 foldable had a 9.3mm profile (folded).

Honor Magic V5 Specifications (Expected)

Although the specifications of the Honor Magic V5 are yet to be officially announced, the phone has been a part of the rumour mill for some time. It was spotted on the Geekbench website earlier this month with model number MHG-AN00. The listing indicated a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and 16GB of RAM in the phone. It is expected to come with Android 15 OS and an IPX8-rated build. The phone could pack a 6,100mAh battery with 66W wired fast charging

As per past leaks, the Honor Magic V5 will have a triple rear camera unit, including a 50-megapixel primary sensor, an ultra-wide camera, and a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto shooter. It is rumoured to feature a 6.45-inch LTPO OLED cover screen and an 8-inch 2K inner display.
