Google I/O 2025 Live Blog: All the Android, Gemini, and XR Updates as They Happen

If you’re a Google user—and really, show us somebody on the internet who isn’t—then today is one of the most important days on the tech news calendar.

On Tuesday morning in California, Google will kick off its I/O developer conference with a two-hour keynote address. In that keynote, Google execs will walk through all of the changes coming to the company’s biggest products: the Android operating system, the Search experience, the Gemini chatbot, the Android XR face-computing platform, and Google’s suite of webapps.

The presentation will begin at 10 am Pacific, 1 pm Eastern, 6 pm British Summer Time. You can watch the livestream on this page, or on Google’s YouTube channel.

You can read the full report of what to expect from the Google I/O keynote. You can also read about some of the updates Google has already shared in the week before I/O, including a redesign coming to Android 16, some scam protections for Android phones, and the new lockdown mode for vulnerable Android users.

One of the more exciting announcements we’re expecting is more news about Google’s smart glasses platform, Android XR, and its AI-enabled eyeglass frames dubbed Project Moohan. We last saw these about six months ago, so we’re expecting to see what the XR team has been up to.

WIRED has a few reporters on the ground at Google HQ today. This live blog will kick off about 30 minutes before the presentation begins, and you’ll see all of this text get replaced by live updates. We’ll be posting updates and analysis throughout the event, while also providing necessary context to help frame the statements and announcements from the Google executives on stage.

So we’ll see you back here at 9:30 am Pacific for a half hour of pregame chatter, and (if all of us are lucky) some photos of the complimentary breakfast treats on offer to media in attendance. Then the main show starts at 10 am. See you then!
