As much as we enjoy Elden Ring Nightreign, gathering three friends consistently (or matchmaking with strangers) to play the game as intended can be a hassle. Conversely, going solo, though possible, is more or less discouraged. From Software is meeting fans in the middle by adding its previously announced two-player mode next week.
On July 30, update 1.02 introduces Duo Expeditions, allowing Nightreign to be played with only two players instead of three. How the game experience will balance this change is unclear, but it’s a welcome addition and allows Nightreign to be experienced in every available player count. Update 1.02 will also add UI improvements, such as more Relic filtering options. Check out the new trailer showing off Duo Expeditions below.
