RayNeo has just dropped a bunch of new smart glasses that bring the theater experience to your face. The new RayNeo GT and GT Max AR glasses go on sale September 4 for $299 and $399 respectively, targeting people who want a giant private screen for gaming, movies, and travel without carrying anything remotely resembling a television.
Both models use a use dual 1080p Micro-OLED displays running at up to 120Hz, alongside dedicated processing for display enhancement and spatial tracking. The $399 GT Max is where things get excessive. Its 59-degree field of view supports three virtual screen sizes equivalent to 227, 267, and 307 inches. The $299 GT has a narrower 46-degree field of view and scales between 136, 201, and 231 inches.
Almost a dollar for every inch of screen space
The company uses its Vision 4000 display chip, co-developed with Pixelworks, for dynamic contrast, white balance, and real-time AI SDR-to-HDR processing. A separate Zone 360 3DoF chip handles spatial tracking directly on the glasses. Steady Mode is designed to stabilize the image while you are moving on a plane or train; Pinned Mode anchors the virtual display in space, and Follow Mode lets it move more naturally with your head.
Plug something like a Steam Deck or compatible gaming handheld into glasses like these, and the little seven- or eight-inch display in your hands suddenly matters a lot less. RayNeo also equips both models with Bang & Olufsen-tuned quad speakers and a directional Whisper Mode that it claims can reduce sound leakage by 80%. The displays reach up to 1,200 nits and support 3,840Hz PWM dimming.
Another $100 gets you the monster
The differences between the two models go beyond virtual screen size. The regular GT weighs 68 grams and uses a conventional Birdbath optical system. GT Max, however, weighs 78 grams and comes in three physical IPD sizes to better align the optics with different users’ eyes.
RayNeo is also promoting Dolby Vision playback, but there is an important catch. Native Dolby Vision requires the new Pocket TV Pro accessory. RayNeo has yet to announce its price, and the streamer is specifically designed for RayNeo glasses rather than competing AR eyewear.
The $299 starting point is especially interesting considering Xreal recently launched its a01+ in the U.S. for the same price. The Xreal One, which we rated highly for its stable spatial display, carries a $499 MSRP. RayNeo is therefore dropping the GT Max into a part of the market where $399 suddenly buys some seriously ambitious hardware.
