Hi-Fi Rush Developer Tango Gameworks Officially Relaunches And Is Making A New Action Game

In May 2024, Microsoft abruptly shut down Tango Gameworks, the studio behind Hi-Fi Rush, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and The Evil Within series. However, its demise was short-lived, as publisher Krafton acquired the studio and the rights to the Hi-Fi Rush IP a few months later in August. Today, Tango is officially back in operation and is gearing up for its next title.

Tango has reopened its Tokyo office, launched a new website, and unveiled a redesigned company logo. The full version is above, and the simplified version is below.

In a blog post, Tango states the logo is meant to “encapsulate the studio’s vision as a ‘creative workshop’: a place where creators have ownership of their work, and their individual contributions come together into games that feel ‘handmade with soul.’”

Creative Director John Johanas remains part of the team, and the studio is hiring for a mysterious new action game with openings in nearly every department. Given that Tango has retained the Hi-Fi Rush IP (Microsoft still owns the rights to The Evil Within and Ghostwire: Tokyo), a sequel to the 2023 hit could be in the cards, but it will likely be a good while before we learn what form this new project takes.

It’s rare to see shuttered studios get a second lease on life, so we’re pleased to see Tango Gameworks back on its feet and look forward to seeing what it has in store. For more on the studio, check out our review of its last game, Hi-Fi Rush, here.
