Best Verizon Fios new customer deals: Get 2GB/s internet in your home

For the longest time, all internet was run along the same copper cables that we’ve been using for our phone lines, and while that was revolutionary for the time, there is a limit to how fast they can go, which poses a problem. Luckily, the future is here in the form of fiber optic internet, which is a lot faster than copper. How much faster? Well, fiber lines can theoretically go up to several gigabytes a second, which completely blows out the internet speeds of yesteryear and is perfect for those who consume a lot of content online, especially at higher resolutions.

That said, fiber optic cables are not available everywhere, but if you’re in a place where Verizon has deployed fiber optic cables, you can take advantage of these higher speeds from today. Luckily, you can easily

right now to know whether you qualify for the higher speeds or not. If you do, we’ve collected all the Fios internet subscriptions and all the benefits available for new members.

Also, if you’re interested in a new mobile plan, be sure to check out these cell phone plan deals for some good options on that front too.

2 Gigabit Verizon Fios connection — $110 per month + free extras

One of the fastest internet speeds you can get, and the fastest speed that Verizon offers, this is the sort of subscription you should grab if all the members of your family are essentially watching 4k content all the time. It’s also great for those who want to host their own media server to share with friends or family while not impacting anybody else in the home. You also get a lot of great freebies included here, such as the choice of either a $300 Target gift card or a $350 value Samsung Chromebook Go, which is admittedly an entry-level device, but it’s not bad to use for just streaming content. On top of that, you can choose between 2TB of Verizon cloud storage and 12 months of Disney+ with no ads or a MoCA Ethernet Adapter for gaming and a $50 Xbox eGift Card. You could also get both of these if you add an extra $10/month, although it’s probably not worth it at that point.

1 Gigabit Verizon Fios connection — $90 per month + free extras

If the super-fast speeds aren’t necessarily needed, especially if you’re in a smaller household without too many folks watching content, then the 1 Gigabit version is the way to go. It is $20 cheaper, so it’s a lot of money that you’re saving over the course of the year, and you still get quite a few extra benefits, even at this level. You get to choose either a $200 Target gift card or the same sort of Samsung Chromebook Go that’s worth $350 that’s great for streaming content. You also get a similar choice as the 2 Gigabit connection, which includes either 2TB of Verizon cloud storage and six months of Disney+ without ads, or a MoCA Ethernet Adapter for gaming and a $50 Xbox eGift Card.

500Mbps Verizon Fios connection — $70 per month + $100 Target gift card

If you live on your own and don’t really take up and are a streamer, or have slightly higher bandwidth needs, then the 500Mbps is a solid option. It costs $70 a month, which is a bit pricey when you consider it’s not half the cost of the 1 Gigabit connection, even though it’s half the speed. It might be worth spending the extra $20 just to get the extra speeds, even if you won’t always use it, but if you don’t, then you do get a $100 Target Gift Card, which is a nice way to sweeten the pot.

300Mbps — $50 per month + $50 Target gift card

The 300 Mbps connection is the slowest FIOS one that Verizon has to offer, and it’s going for just $50 per month, which isn’t too bad, although again, the math on the speed vs cost of the other subscriptions does mean one of the other subscriptions are better value. Even so, this one gives you $50 Target gift card, so you’re at least recouping some of that difference that you would have paid in the long run.

Should you bundle internet and phone plans?

If you’re wondering whether you should bundle your home internet, phone, and TV plans, then the short answer is yes — depending on your usage. There are almost always Verizon new customer deals to entice people looking to switch and save, too, so make sure you don’t sleep on those when shopping around for a new service provider. Verizon has one of the best fiber optic networks in America, but as of now, Fios is available only in certain places in the Eastern U.S. You can
check out the up-to-date coverage list here
.

Perhaps the biggest advantage of these cheap Verizon Fios deals is that you only pay for what you actually use. That means that if you use your home internet and landline phone a lot but don’t watch that much TV (or if you already have some streaming services you’re happy with), you won’t get stuck footing the bill for a big package full of stuff you don’t really need. Alternatively, if you’re one of many who has entirely ditched a traditional landline in favor of a cell phone plan, but you want to keep up with the latest in fiber optic internet and streaming technology, there’s a Fios package for that too.

When you sign up for Verizon Fios internet (assuming it’s offered in your area), you have the freedom to choose what extras you want to add. Note that Fios is first and foremost an internet service, so you’ll need to at least sign up for one of the 300Mbps, 500Mbps, or Gigabit plans. Verizon’s new customer deals often include faster speeds for the same price in select locations, and if that’s available to you, you’ll see it when selecting your plans. After choosing a Verizon Fios internet package, you’ll then have the option to add one of a variety of TV and landline phone service tiers, or forgo them altogether — it’s totally up to you. That lets you tailor your bundle to your needs and habits without paying for unwanted extras.
